Nepal consists of demanding geographical location and climatic variation. Domestic flights are mostly prone to delay and also cancellation. Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal. It doesn’t have the technology of an instrumental landing system. Flight delay is mainly caused by adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, thick fog, strong winds, etc. It is advised not to take off the flight in those adverse weather conditions considering the topography of Nepal.
The Autumn season starting from November to September is considered the best trekking season in Nepal. It is because the weather is dry, clear, and stable. During this time, flight delays and cancellation is rare. In other seasons, we cannot take guarantee of weather. The rainy season starting from June-August is highly prone to flight delays and cancellations. The view is unclear due to strong winds, rain, and patchy clouds. Similarly, flights may get canceled in the winter season due to thick fog.
Therefore, it is better to separate one or two days for spare in case your flight gets canceled. You may be short of the scheduled time. Sometimes, road transportation could also be an option. If you are flying to Lukla, you may have to change your entire schedule. You may be in short of time as there is no other option owning to its dramatic location.
Note: Travel insurance is very necessary when your flight gets canceled or you are in short of time. Nepal One Adventure may also charter a helicopter at your service if you are unable to catch your flight. However, the cost must be borne by you who could be claimed through the insurance company later.
