There are only public houses while we travel from Pokhara to Kande. Buses will leave from the main bus station on the western side of Pokhara Bazaar. After a few hours of drive, we reach Kande. Kande is the exit point for several treks in the Pokhara region. We will continue through the forest from Kande until we reach Pitam Deurali. You need to make sure you bring your sleeping bag there. Pitam Deurali is a beautiful spot for you to spend overnight.
We will follow the trekking path along with moss and lichen-covered woods to a Lower camp. There are natural windows in the woods. They look out into thrilling panoramas. The knife-sharp traverses towards Annapurna South. We can see the Modhi Khola valley to our left. This leads up to the Annapurna Sanctuary. It is also not considered wise to go too high too fast. Therefore, we will rest there. Like forest camp, the low camp also has only some essential lodges. We will stay overnight there.
The trail breaks out above the three lines after an hour or so above low camp. We are out of the forest after a short steep climb. The ridge is grassy and sometimes under the snow. This path leads us to up to high camp. You can explore awesome views from there. From there, Machapuchhre itself is close enough to touch which you cannot even imagine. The lodge at high camp is larger than low camp and forest camp. We will stay overnight at high camp.
The high camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp is not that difficult. It is stunning with views of snowy peaks. People from all age groups can do this trek if they are physically healthy. On the way, you can see beautiful villages, rhododendron forests that welcome you into the immortal wilderness. After that, we go downwards again to the low camp. We will stay overnight in lodges if there are not any shortages. However, the Low camp only has some essential lodges. Therefore, it is advised to book lodges in advance.
We will take a different route on the return trek. There is a path that goes down to a siding village from low camp. The village is famous for its honey hunting. Honey hunting is done in traditional ways. The hunter climbs the rocky cliffs and slides gently towards the honeycomb. You may even take your camera to capture the process of honey hunting. You can meet friendly, humble, and simple people at this place. They live a normal life but still have a smile on their faces. We will stay at a home in the traditional Siding village owned by the person who runs one of the lodges at Low Camp.
We take a drive from Sidhing village to Pokhara which is a beautiful city. If you are tired of physical activities, you can go boating, food hunt, or experiencing the nightlife of the city. We will stay overnight at Pokhara. It is better to explore some more days to Pokhara if you want. It is one of the best places to discover natural beauty. The accommodation in this region is considered the best so far. There is an upscale service than anywhere else in the upper Himalayas. It’s all up to you where you want to sleep. You may choose from guesthouses, hotels, resorts, or teahouses. Guesthouses may vary from extremely expensive to cheap. Low-budget houses are usually of poor quality. They are as not much deluxe as those in the urban areas. However, they are well off than the cheap lodges or budges guesthouse. Teahouses' accommodation is most predominant amongst hikers. They are equipped with furnished wood and solar hot showers. You will have a pillow, mattress, and a blanket along with western toilet facilities. As you ascend higher, the accommodation will be simpler with basic facilities.
