The trek on Lower Dolpo is another magnificent region among the trekking peaks of Nepal. You will get the chance to reach Shey Phoksundo Lake which is one of the largest lakes in Nepal. It is fun to embark on the western region of Nepal that is protected by Shey Phoksundo National Park. On the way, you will be walking through the forests of pine, juniper, and spruce. Similarly, you may view the magnificent views of the snow-capped Himalayas.
The trek also takes us to Nepalgunj, Laini, Nawarpani, and Do Tarap. This visit will allow travelers to get familiar with the diverse Nepalese landscape and culture. This is a very long trek for those who are trekking for the first time. However, you will be benefitted when you get the chance to circle the lower Dolpo region which is quite similar to the upper one. The gradual development and road access to Dolpa have several striking climbing routes. They have become endangered. This allows escaping the major road sections and traversing on the beautiful unexplored remote regions of Nepal. You may also observe the most endangered animal Snow Leopard if you visit the national park.

Upon your arrival at TIA (Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu), our representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you will be taken to your respective hotel. After the check-in process, you can rest if you are too tired. You will also be provided a welcome dinner hosted by our institution. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we will start a guided tour to some historical attractions in Kathmandu (Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. In the evening we take you for a short tour to Thamel, which is the main tourist hub in Kathmandu. We will make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money exchange, supermarket, gear shops and other necessary things you might need for your trip. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
Today, we will be flying to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu for about an hour. Nepalgunj is the popular city of Nepal located in the western region. This flight will offer you in-flight views of the green forests and Himalayan Range. Nepalgunj is located in the southern region of Nepal. So, it is normally called the Terai area. We check in hotel in Nepalgunj and visit the local market for food hunt and shopping. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge.
On this day, we take a flight from Nepalgunj to Juphal. We may also use local transportation to reach our final destination. We then start our trek towards Dunai with a short hike along the Thuli Bheri River. There is plenty of interesting things to roam around the town like stupas and monasteries. We may visit them if time permits. Overnight stay will be at Dunai.
Today, we trek to Tarakot that follows the upstream path. We will be crossing through the Bheri River. We trek all along the leveled path packed with beautiful landscapes. On the way, you will come across deep gorges, hanging bridges, and isolated villages. Trekkers are greeted with dry stones and colorful terraced fields on continuing further journey. This is an old fortress town located on a hillock. We will stay overnight at a local lodge.
Today, we follow the path on the southern bank of the Bheri River. It leads us to the open valley. Heading east will take us to the Bharbung Khola. From there, trekkers need to cross the main river. In this way, we follow the flow of Tarap Khola. Then, head north to Khanigaon. There you may observe a wonderful view of Sandul Gompa across the valley. We make a final ascend on the steep path so that we may reach Laina Odar. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge.
Today, our path follows through the deep gorge of the Tarap River. We ascend high above on a path made out of steep slopes. The path becomes more easy and open as we move further. We continue our path on wooden planks and flat stones. In this way, we come to Chhyugar. After a couple of hours trek, we arrive at our final destination called Nawarpani. We will stay overnight at a local lodge.
The path continues and heads up forward to another place in this region called Dho Tarap. By this time, trekkers might feel exhausted because of the consistent trek. Our professional coaches will advise you to relax for some time on the way. We gradually ascend towards Kamattarka. This is the junction of Tarap Chu and Lang Khola. After a few hours of trek, we will be arriving at our other destination of the day. Do Tarap is not quite known to many travelers though it used to be one of the famous trading points to the traders of Tibet and Mustang. Overnight stay will be at this place.
The path leads through lush rhododendron forests, sacred lakes, and other glaciers of varying sizes. You may observe the tall peaks surrounding you. It just takes some hours to discover the place. The trek doesn’t involve any technical difficulties. You may observe the magnificent views of the hills and mountains from the Dho Tarap. The day is the most beautiful of the entire trip. Do not forget to capture this moment on your camera. We will stay overnight at this place.
Today, we move alongside Tarap Chu River and ascend uphill towards Tokyu. This is one of the traditional villages with old-fashioned houses. After that, we cross a bridge to Khanger. In this way, trekkers will head towards the northwest direction of the main path. Our journey will further continue through the rugged path so that we could reach Numa La Base Camp. Overnight stay will be at camp.
Today, trekkers will begin their trek towards Numa La Pass. The journey is going to be difficult but it is highly rewarding. We ascend through a steep path up on top of endless ridges. This is a little rugged and rough path. You will be rewarded with extraordinary views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal Range. After some time, we descend alongside the Gyambo Khola for another camp at Pelung Tang. Overnight stay will be at camp.
Today, we head forward towards another pass called Baga La. We make a steep climb along the shabby yak path. The rapid gain in elevation might require extra effort. The top of this pass offers sacred Chortens with majestic views of peaks such as Norbung Kang. After that, we continue our trek to Dajok Tang which is another beautiful place in this region. Overnight stay will be there.
Today, the trek to Ringmo starts with a gradual walk along the riverside. We will follow the steep ascent to the top of the hill. We will continue our journey towards Ringmo village. The path today climbs through a cedar forest to a winter settlement of the local people of Ringmo village. This is another beautiful village in the Dolpo region. You will get the opportunity to explore the culture and traditions of the local people of Ringmo village. You need to cross the bridge and follow the northern path. This takes us to the ranger station at Phoksundo Lake. The overnight stay will be at Ringmo gaun.
Today, the area around the magnificent Phoksundo Lake will be explored. You may explore the Ringmo village as well as the culture and traditions of the local people. Trekkers will descend along the steep-sided cliffs to the lake. Phoksundo Lake is considered sacred by Buddhists and followers of the Bonpo religion. They believe that the lake consists of an underwater palace and a tantric Mandala of spirits. The lake is famous for its spectacular scenery. Thus, we spend one extra day observing the spiritual and natural beauty of this place.
The day starts with a steady climb along the path carved into the Cliffside. You will get the opportunity to overlook the lake. You will get the opportunity to look at all intents and purposes. Trekkers will be passing through the rocky land to see the glorious view. In this way, the forested path takes us to Shyanta which is another beautiful village in this region. The overnight stay will be at Shyanta.
Today, our trek is a comparatively shorter one. After a few hours, we will be arriving at Juphal. Today is the end of our trekking journey. We say goodbye to the remote villages of Nepal. We will be celebrating our achievement of completing one of Nepal’s most demanding treks. However, trekkers are informed to be prepared for the next day.
We say goodbye to the stunning Dolpo region after breakfast. After that, we fly towards Nepalgunj. Then, we fly back to Kathmandu which takes about an hour. After reaching Kathmandu, we have the remaining day off to rest or do some reminder shopping. We may also go for a short tour to Kathmandu valley as there are various important sites such as Patan Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, Bhaktapur, etc.
Today we will walk around the local town in Kathmandu to experience the historical, cultural, and spiritual aspects of the valley, explore the century-old monuments, architecture, crafts, visit the temple of the living goddess “Kumari”.We will have a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful journey. The overnight will be in Kathmandu.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end from today. Our representative will guide us to the airport about 3 hours before our planned flight. On our way home, we have an abundance of time to map our next adventure in the astonishing country of Nepal.

You need to pack your bags lightly because you will not be able to carry heavy loads along with the trek. You will not be able to enjoy your journey in the Himalayas unless you pack wisely. You will be sleeping in small lodges and tea houses during the entire trip. Please be prepared with the right clothes as per the season. The trek may be difficult for those who are trekking for the first time. The altitude will make it harder. The trek has rising and falling flats and abruptly ascends but it is generally manageable for the trekker of any age. They require little trekking experience. However, it is advised for the trekker to be physically fit and have some training before planning this trek.
You can enter Nepal by land as well as flight. Several airlines have direct flights to Kathmandu from many different countries like London, Paris, Doha, Osaka, Bangkok, Singapore, etc. One representative from our office will be at the airport to pick up. So, you can easily enter this beautiful country.
The trekking cost including accommodation, guide/porter, fees, foods etc remains the same. Nepalese citizens do not have to pay permit fees unlike foreigners. Foreign citizens need to pay extra charges. The cost will differ nearly by 200 US$ to Nepalese. You may inquire us for the further updated cost.
It is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance. You need to make sure that it covers emergency evacuation at high altitude. Altitude sickness may attack you though you are physically fit. The only solution is to take time and walk slow. If you feel uncomfortable, it is suggested to go lower elevation.
