The trek on Kanchenjunga Base Camp is most prolific among the trekking peaks of Nepal. You will get the chance to reach the Arun valley which is considered one of the most beautiful regions for trekking. It is fun to embark on the eastern region of Nepal that is protected by the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. On the way, you will be observing the tropical jungle, rhododendron, and chestnuts. Similarly, you may view the magnificent views of the snow-capped Himalayas.
The trek also takes us to Illam, Taplejung, Lelep, Amjilosa, Gyabla, and Lhonak village. This visit will allow travelers to get familiar with the diverse Nepalese landscape and culture. This is a very long trek for those who are trekking for the first time. However, you will be benefitted when you get the chance to circle the Kanchenjunga regions. The gradual development and road access to this region have several striking climbing routes. They have become endangered. This allows escaping the major road sections and traversing on the beautiful unexplored remote regions of Nepal. You may also observe the most endangered animals if you visit the Kanchenjunga conservation area.

Upon your arrival at TIA (Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu), our representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you will be taken to your respective hotel. After the check-in process, you can rest if you are too tired. You will also be provided a welcome dinner hosted by our institution. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we will start a guided tour to some historical attractions in Kathmandu (Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. In the evening we take you for a short tour to Thamel, which is the main tourist hub in Kathmandu. We will make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money exchange, supermarket, gear shops and other necessary things you might need for your trip. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
We catch an early morning flight to Bhadrapur which is the land of natural beauty. After that, we take local transportation and drive to Illam. There you will enjoy the views of beautiful landscapes. Illam is known as the largest tea plantation area in Nepal. It is also the major tourist area for domestic tourists. The land holds large orchards of tea plants. There you will find the Himalayan chew made of Cheese. We will stay overnight at the hotel in Illam.
Today, we head towards Taplejung. We will most probably use private transportation. We drive along the beautiful countryside. In this way, trekkers will pass through Phidim. We will then reach Limbu village of Tablejung. Overnight stay will be at Tablejung.
On this day, we will be trekking through the Limbu and Tamang villages of Sinwa, Tawa, and Pokre. There we may also pass over old landslide debris and boulder. We will observe strewn river deposits before descending to Thiwa Khola. Then, we need to head towards Chiruwa crossing the wooden bridge. Overnight stay will be at Chiruwa.
Today, we will be taking breakfast early in the morning. In this way, we will trek up to a place called Lelep. We move next to Tamor River and go down towards Simbu Khola. On the way, you will observe tropical walnut and maple forests. There you will see the culture and traditions of local people. Waterfalls and lush vegetation are some other attractions of this region. We reach the village of Lelep to stay overnight.
Today, we will be moving with the flow of Ghunsa Khola. We head towards another beautiful destination of this region called Amjilosa. Trekkers will be walking through steep uphill on exposed terrain. We will be relishing the amazing landscape view. People cross several bridges over Ghunsa Khola. In this way, we will be able to reach the Tibetan village of Amjilosa. Overnight stay will be there.
Today, we walk through forested paths filled with rhododendrons and bamboo. After that, we need to ascend to Gyabla. On our way to Gyabla, we come across a big waterfall on the opposite side of the river. Travelers need to make a little ascent and then a descent to reach the final destination. Be aware of altitude sickness on your way. The overnight stay will be at Gyabla.
Today, we leave the beautiful Gyabla village behind. Then, we trek towards Ghunsa through a broad meadow. After that, we climb a small hill and descend to cross the river. In this way, we reach the Tibetan village of Ghunsa with wooden houses. Ghunsa has a micro-hydropower plant. The beautiful village also has the facility of a school and a health post. Overnight stay will be at Ghunsa.
Today, we spend one more day exploring the hidden beauties of this place. Therefore, we take a short hike to the opposite side of Ghunsa Khola. This will make a gain of about 400m. After returning from the hike, we may spend the rest of the day exploring the ancient village of Ghunsa. We visit monasteries and learn about Buddhist culture and tradition that has unique spiritual value. Overnight stay will be at Ghunsa.
Today, we take breakfast early in the morning to enter the forested path.
We will be walking along the south bank of Ghunsa Khola. There we will pass across several Mani walls and Chortens. People also trek through several scree slopes and some glacial moraines. In this way, we reach the Tibetan settlement of Khambachen. From there, we can get a stunning view of the north face of Jannu. Overnight stay will be at Khambachen.
Today, we leave behind the Khambachen. We follow the path on the left side of Kanchenjunga Glacier. After that, trekkers will be hiking along a high plateau to reach the campsite of Lhonak. From there, trekkers may see massive mountain peaks like Wegde Peak, Mera Peak, Nepal Peak, and many more. Overnight stay will be at Lhonak.
Today, we head towards Kanchenjunga Base Camp (KBC). For this, trekkers will follow the path along with the glaciers. This path will be on the northern ridges. The camp is also known as Pang Pema. From this place, we get a mesmerizing and spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. You may observe the skyline filled with snow-capped mountains. These ranges border Nepal-India and Nepal-Tibet. We head back to Lhonak to stay overnight.
After the amazing experience in KBC, we retrace our path towards Ghunsa. On the way, you will be enjoying the spectacular views of different mountains. We descent past Lhonak and Khangpachen. This will be done while walking on the moraines. We will be walking through the moraines of Kanchenjunga Glacier and Kumbhakarna Glacier. In this way, trekkers arrive at Ghunsa. Overnight stay will be at Ghunsa.
Today, we walk along the steep rocky path to reach Selele Base Camp. You will be provided for breakfast early in the morning. The path is a little rocky and slippery. However, our professional coaches are there to guide you in any difficult circumstances. Please feel free to take help from them. After some hours of trek, we come to our final destination. You will get the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of the local people living there. We will stay overnight at Selele Base Camp.
Today might be the most challenging day of our trek. We cross over two different passes to come to Cheram. The highest pass is called the Sele La and Sinion La. After reaching the top of the passes, we are however rewarded with amazing views. The views are of Yalung Glacier, Jannu, Makalu, Baruntse, Kanchenjunga, and many other mountains. These ranges lie along the Sikkim border. After that, we descend to Cheram to stay overnight.
We pass through the moraines of Yalung Glacier. This trek will be into an ablation valley. In this way, trekkers will ascend towards Ramche. We will also come across a lake and a meadow. There we can spot the blue sheep grazing on the grassy hills. We will visit the small monastery in this region which is very famous. In the evening we will explore some other interesting sites in Ramche. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge.
On this day, we descend towards Tortong through the densely forested path. These paths are filled with rhododendrons and bushes. We also stumble across a few streams and Chortens. On your way, you will be visiting monasteries, ponds, and waterfalls. Overnight will be at a local lodge in Tortong.
On this day, we will be having breakfast early in the morning. Then, we continue to descend to the Amji Khola. After that, we cross Lasiya Bhanjyang and Dhupi Bhanjyang. We descent towards Yamphudim. It is a small village that is inhabited by several tribes such as Sherpa, Rai, and Limbu. Gurungs are also one of the major inhabitants of this village. Overnight stay will be at Yamphuding.
Today, we leave off this beautiful village of Yamphudin. We descend towards Khebang passing through valleys. On the way, you will pass through forests, waterfalls, and bushes. Trekkers will have to cross suspension bridges over several streams. We will be walking through small settlements alongside Kabeli Khola. Then, we arrive at our final destination called Khebang. The overnight stay will be at Khebang.
On this day, we will be walking through the lushly forested path. The path is accompanied by the beautiful view of Kanchenjunga and Jannu. Trekkers will stumble across several waterfalls to reach the final destination at Hapu Khola. The river is very famous and sacred in this region. The surrounding environment is very cool and pleasant. By this time, our trekking journey is over. The overnight stay will be at Hapu Khola.
On this day, we take breakfast early in the morning to catch our drive back to Birtamod. On the way, you will get to observe green hills, snow-capped mountains, rivers, etc. The ride also shows you the lifestyle of local people. We leave away the mountainous part and arrive at flat land. Overnight stay will be at Birtamod.
We drive to Bhadrapur from Birtamod which is another beautiful Terai region of Nepal. Then, we fly back to Kathmandu which takes about an hour. After reaching Kathmandu, we have the remaining day off to rest or do some reminder shopping. We may also go for a short tour to Kathmandu valley as there are various important sites such as Patan Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, Bhaktapur, etc.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today. Our representative will guide us to the airport about 3 hours before our planned flight. On our way home, we have an abundance of time to map our next adventure in the astonishing country of Nepal.

You need to pack your bags lightly because you will not be able to carry heavy loads along with the trek. You will not be able to enjoy your journey in the Himalayas unless you pack wisely. You will be sleeping in small lodges and tea houses during the entire trip. Please be prepared with the right clothes as per the season. The trek may be difficult for those who are trekking for the first time. The altitude will make it harder. The trek has rising and falling flats and abruptly ascends but it is generally manageable for the trekker of any age. They require little trekking experience. However, it is advised for the trekker to be physically fit and have some training before planning this trek.
You can enter Nepal by land as well as flight. Several airlines have direct flights to Kathmandu from many different countries like London, Paris, Doha, Osaka, Bangkok, Singapore, etc. One representative from our office will be at the airport to pick up. So, you can easily enter this beautiful country.
The trekking cost including accommodation, guide/porter, fees, food, etc remains the same. Nepalese citizens do not have to pay permit fees, unlike foreigners. Foreign citizens need to pay extra charges. The cost will differ nearly by 200 US$ to Nepalese. You may inquire us for the further updated cost.
It is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance. You need to make sure that it covers emergency evacuation at high altitude. Altitude sickness may attack you though you are physically fit. The only solution is to take time and walk slow. If you feel uncomfortable, it is suggested to go lower elevation.
We will run our booked trips under normal circumstances. You will still be going on the trip even if other hikers cancel at the end moment. We will not cancel the whole trip even if there are fewer participants. Please note that we will not be continuing the trip if there is a political riot, natural disasters, pandemics, epidemics or catastrophes, etc.
Yes, the trek is fixable. We can continue to other trekking as per guest request. However, visit other trekking sites may include additional charge.
