This Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak is an incredible journey to the World Highest Mountain, Mt. Everest. The closest point you can visit Everest without climbing gear is Everest Base Camp. Not only this, you will experience Chukung to Island Base Camp sleep till mid-night. You will get the chance to see the sunrise from the Island peak. Everest Base Camp provides you the opportunity to have an eye to eye contact with the mighty Everest. You may also observe breathtaking views of other Top Highest Mountain Peaks like Makalu (8,463m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Cho Oyu (8,188m).
Along the way to Everest Base Camp, you walk through beautiful monasteries, villages, forests, national parks, monasteries, and many more. Upon your arrival at TIA (Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu), our representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you will be taken to your respective hotel. After the check-in process, you can rest if you are too tired. You will also be provided a welcome dinner hosted by our institution. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we will start a guided tour to some historical attractions in Kathmandu (Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. In the evening we take you for a short tour to Thamel, which is the main tourist hub in Kathmandu. We will make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money exchange, supermarket, gear shops, and other necessary things you might need for your trip. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
We will take an early morning flight to Lukla (the gateway to the Everest trek). After the dramatic 30 min flight, enjoying the beautiful view of the hills and mountains, we land in Lukla, where we meet with our complete crew and proceed with our trek towards Phadking. After about a 4 hours trek we reach a small village of Phadking. You will stay overnight at a local lodge.

Moving uphill, we enter the Sagarmatha national park (loaded with species of flora and fauna). Gradually moving forward we pass several bridges and reach the Khumbu region, Namche Bazaar. From here, we get the sight of Everest, AmaDablan. You will stay overnight there.

Namche Bazaar is the Sherpa Capital, so here we experience the sherpa culture. Also, we hike around the Bazaar, to the top of Namche, and visit the museums, experience the breathtaking panoramic view of AmaDablam, Everest, Thamserku and other mountains.
Also, we hike all the way to Everest View Point and return back to Namchebazar. You will stay overnight at a local lodge.

After breakfast, we will leave for the trek. This will be one of the hardest days of trekking from an elevation gain viewpoint. You gain nearly 4,000 feet / 1,200 meters. However, it will also be one of the most rewarding days as you get to enjoy some stunning views of the Everest Mountain Range, Serene Forest out in the distance throughout the trek. On the way, we will also stop for some exploration of monasteries. We will stay overnight at a local lodge in Tengboche.

Today we head towards Dingboche. Dingboche is a distant and thrilling village that was conventionally a farming area for Sherpa people. We get to see many walled-off areas for growing buckwheat and potatoes. To the left of Dingboche lies Mt. Everest Base Camp, this is our destination. So, we start to trek from Tengboche, passing through small villages, forest, suspension bridges, and reach Dingboche. We will stay overnight at a local lodge.

We will be trekking to Chukkung through the Imja Valley after spending the night in Dingboche. The day is long but the trek is rewarding. Once you reach Chukkung, you will be lodged at one of the tea houses. The houses have awesome food. These foods are considered a luxury in the Himalayan areas. You can also find the gear rental shop in Chukkung. You can hire all the essential items like hard shell boots, crampons, harness, hamlet, ice ax, etc. The overnight stay will be at Chukung.

This day, you will be going to the Island Peak Base Camp. You need to climb up to the peak so that you will be able to see the sunrise in the morning. The beautiful view of the sunrise is heartwarming. The journey is the gradual ascent. So, you need to be aware of altitude sickness. Try to take it easy and rest your body for the summit climb in the upcoming few days. You should capture unforgettable moments from there.

On this day, we will go through the easy descent from Island Base Camp. We will be heading towards the scenic village of Chukung. You may observe various Sherpa villages on your way. You will be welcomed by beautiful waterfalls, rivers, green forests, and rhododendron on your way. The overnight stay will be at Chukung.

After breakfast, we trek towards Lobuche. We pass through or above Pheriche, a lonely but picturesque village. After reaching Douglas, we climb a steep 30- to 60-minute up. From here, it’s a mostly flat hike to Lobuche. Trekkers also lose around 6 to 7 percent of their weight during their trip. It is advised to have a good diet during this journey that could provide you energy for such a long trip. The overnight stay will be at Labuche.

Today is the day when we will get to the base camp. So, we begin the trek towards Gorakshep. The extend from Lobuche to Gorakshep usually takes two to three hours. However, you will gain almost 300 meters in altitude. Passing the trails of ChangriNup, Pumori, Changri we reach Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the townsite of Everest base camp. Here, we suit up, strip down our day packs, and head towards our goal, Everest base camp.

To see the summit of Mount Everest, we have to hike up to a landmark known as Kala Patthar, or “black rock”. The place sits at around 5,600 meters, making it upper in elevation than Everest Base Camp. The Base Camp is at 5,364 meters. You can see the summit of Mount Everest from there. It is the world’s tallest peak. After the view of Kala Patthar, we move to our destination place Phiriche and spend the night there.

On this day, we will ascend down to Phortse. It is a farming village that is located at 3840m in the Khumbu valley in Nepal. The village more resembles an authentic Sherpa village. The significant Sherpa culture will provide you knowledge regarding their lifestyle, custom, and traditions. You will be welcomed by beautiful waterfalls, rivers, green forests, and rhododendron on your way. Overnight stay will be at Phortse. On the next day, we will be prepared for another journey.

We will further continue our journey to another village in the Sholukhumbu district. The name of that village is Khumjung. The village is famous for various Buddhist monasteries. You may also observe farming and cattle rearing which is the major occupation of the people living there. An interview with locals will create a friendly atmosphere for you. You may speak to them if you know Nepali. The overnight stay will be at Khumjung.

On this day, we will be taking breakfast early in the morning to head towards Manjo. It is a small town located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The place lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley. You may also observe Sagarmatha National Park if it falls on your way. Manjo is often considered as a stopping point for trekkers. The place is an alternative point of Phakding. The place consists of several guesthouses. We will stay overnight there.

Today is the last hike of this adventure. Traversing the trail towards Lukla, we pass through several beautiful villages. Once we reach Lukla, we say thank you and bid goodbye to the crew members who made this trip successful. We stay overnight at a local lodge. Lukla is the major tourist hub in the Everest region of Nepal. On the next day, we will be prepared for another trip. However, our trekking journey stops today.

We take the next stunning morning flight back to Kathmandu. We wave a heartfelt goodbye to the majestic mountains. After we land in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to our hotels and left on your own to enjoy and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel. You may also go for a quick shop to the major malls of Kathmandu if you would like to.

Today we will walk around the local town in Kathmandu to experience the historical, cultural, and spiritual aspects of the valley, explore the century-old monuments, architecture, crafts, visit the temple of the living goddess “Kumari”.We will have a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful journey. The overnight will be in Kathmandu.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today. Our representative will guide us to the airport about 3 hours before our planned flight. On our way home, we have an abundance of time to map our next adventure in the astonishing country of Nepal.

March is often regarded as the prime month for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak. Besides this, April, May, September, October, and November also provide excellent weather, with pleasant temperatures and clear mountain views. You need to pack your bags lightly because you will not be able to carry heavy loads along with the trek. You will not be able to enjoy your journey in the Himalayas unless you pack wisely. You will be sleeping in small lodges and tea houses during the entire trip. Please be prepared with the right clothes as per the season. All visitors to Nepal require a visa except Indian nationals. Citizens of SAARC nations, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, are exempt for up to 30 days.
Obtaining a Nepal visa is straightforward. You can apply online at https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/ within 15 days of your arrival. The application requires your hotel address in Nepal and a digital passport-sized photo.
Once submitted, print the confirmation page and present it at the immigration section of Kathmandu airport along with your passport and the visa fee.
To book the Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak, you'll need to book a trip with a government authorized trekking agency in Nepal like us. Nepal One Adventure will handle the necessary permits, guide, and porters services you will be needing during the trek. To confirm a booking, we require 10% of the whole trip cost. The money will be used to prebook the hotels (which will be very hard to get during peak seasons), and acquire the required permits. You can pay the remaining payment right before we start your trek, i.e. upon arriving in Nepal.
After the initial booking, we will need your detailed informations i.e documents like passport copy, photo, flight details, travel insurance, etc. We will ask for these documents within a week of booking your trek. While booking with us, we want to let you know that we are concerned about your safety, and all your documents will be safely with us.
Also during the trek, you will constantly have the experienced guide to provide you with the best recommendations throughout the trek.
If you have, all your documents ready, along with travel insurance, we take the last minute bookings too. We will do our best to run your trek on intended time, if everything goes as per time. The Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing is a demanding adventure, mainly due to the high altitude and long duration of both trekking and climbing. Expect to walk and climb for 5 to 8 hours daily.
Although Island Peak is not considered highly technical, it requires strong stamina and endurance for long climbing days. Prior climbing experience is not mandatory, however, having previous experience and familiarity with climbing equipment can make the journey smoother and more manageable.
It is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance. You need to make sure that it covers emergency evacuation at high altitude. Altitude sickness may attack you though you are physically fit. The only solution is to take time and walk slow. If you feel uncomfortable, it is suggested to go lower elevation.
The best month for the Everest Base Camp trek with Island Peak is during the pre-monsoon months. This is generally from March to May. However, post-monsoon months starting from late September till December are also considered favorable. You need to prepare accordingly during the winter seasons. Some people also go trekking in February and early September.
Trekkers will enjoy 3 hearty meals on each day of the trek. You will have breakfast and dinner at the same lodge where you will stay at night. You will be provided lunch at teahouses or small restaurants along the way. You can easily choose your favorite food from the menu provided to you. Our leaders will make sure that you are provided with the right foods. You will be given fresh and organic fruits. They may be brought from Kathmandu or locally sourced in the villages. Your diet will comprise complex carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. We may arrange vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher diets with prior notice.
Yes, the trek is fixable. We can continue to other trekking as per guest request. However, visit other trekking sites may include an additional charge.
Climbing Island Peak is demanding due to its high elevation and technical sections. It is best suited for those with strong endurance and prior mountaineering experience. The route involves crossing snow-covered passes with crampons and ice axes, as well as ascending above 6,000m. For this reason, previous high-altitude trekking or climbing experience is strongly recommended.
