Kathmandu- Pokhara- Chitwan- Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan are the best and most popular tourist places in Nepal because if you visited all of the three places, you will cover almost everything that you need to visit in Nepal. Kathmandu has all the temples ranging from Hindu temples, Durbar Squares to Buddhist monasteries and Stupas. Pokhara has natural scenic beauties, Lakes, mountains, waterfall, caves, and temples as well. Unlike these two Chitwan offers a variety of flora and fauna in the Chitwan National Park where you can see many endangered species of Animals like Gharial, One-Horned Rhino, Bengal Tiger, etc.
Kathmandu is known as the city of temples and after you land here, you will be amazed to see how many temples this place has. This place is full of Hindu and Buddhist temples, ranging from a tiny one to dozens and hundreds at one place. The three Durbar squares, BoudhaStupa, Swoyambhunathstupa (Monkey Temple), and Pashupatinath are the major attractions of Kathmandu. There are other small ponds and temples all over the Kathmandu valley but these are the main ones that will make you feel like you are in a different world.
Pokhara is considered the best tourist destination for domestic or international tourists in Nepal because it encircles a lot of things in one place. Thrilling caves falls, ponds, temples, daring sports, beautiful sceneries, you name it, there is everything. You can go up in the mountains in places for hiking to view the beautiful mountains. People even call this place a Shangri-La or heaven on earth so if you are someone who has not yet visited Pokhara then it is a must. For international tourists, this is the first place you would want to be if you want it all in one place. Besides visiting the lakes, temples, and doing hiking you can indulge in Paragliding, Caving, Boating, Canoeing, and Zip flying in Pokhara.
Unlike Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will be seeing more of nature than manmade structures in Chitwan. There are many endangered and rare species of animals in the national park in Chitwan, Chitwan National Park. You can indulge in safari, boating, and experience the Tharu culture from close here. There are a lot of things to do in Chitwan and if you are staying here for longer you will get a chance to experience almost everything. Generally, people are here for a day or less and they visit all the places but they don’t get it all like you can go on a safari but you might not be lucky to spot any animal like the tiger, gharial or the deer, but if you are spending some days, you can dedicate a lot of your time in doing the same thing so that you don’t miss anything.
You can change this itinerary, services, accommodation, duration of this trip etc.to suit your needs and budget. The choice is yours. Let us help you tailor your perfect holiday.
Kathmandu has a lot of places to roam around. If you take time and visit all the places properly, you might have to spend weeks here. However, for people who are in a rush, we can have a quick visit to some of the most popular places in Kathmandu. The places that you must not miss when you come to Kathmandu are Kathmandu Durbar Square, SwayambhunathStupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath stupa. These places are listed in the world heritage sites by UNESCO. Including the above four places, there are many other places where you can go to visit in Kathmandu so if there is any place that you would particularly like to see, we can make adjustments. We will not be able to get the best experience in a day visiting many places so we can choose one place and visit and know it well too if you choose to. After completing the day we can choose to go out to see the nightlife in Kathmandu or take a good rest for tomorrow’s journey.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
By road, it takes around 6 hours to reach to Pokhara from Kathmandu, but if you choose to come by air, it will take about 35 minutes. However, for the best experience it would be recommended to travel by road as the experience will be better. There are a lot of places to visit and a lot of things to do in Pokhara but for our first day after coming by road on a long journey, the first place that we would go to is the nearest Davis falls. It is a waterfall named after a foreigner, “David” who fell into the waterfall. It is a mysterious waterfall because the water goes under the ground in a deep dark hole with no opening. It has made gorges and it flows through the caves. Next, we would go to the International Mountaineering museum which includes all the information about the mountains, highest peaks, climbing activities, gears, equipment and lifestyle in the Himalayas and the challenges. You can get to know in detail about the Himalayan culture, attire and many more. After a tiring day we will return to our hotel and call it a day so that we can wake up early to go see the sunrise.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
Since we had a good rest last night, we will start our tour early in the morning after having our breakfast at around 6/7am. If we wake up early enough, we can go to Sarangkot to view the beautiful sunrise. We will ascend the hill for around half an hour which will take us to the viewpoint. When the sun will start coming in the horizon, the rays of it would be striking Machhapuchremountain which is a breathtaking view. Therefore, it is better if you wake up early enough so that you don’t miss the moment. After watching the sunrise we willhave our lunch and head towards Phewa Lake. Near the Lake is Bindabasini temple and after this temple we can go to the lake. At the Lake you can indulge in many activities like boating, canoeing, swimming, bird watching, etc. Boating to the center of the Lake will take us to Taalbarahi Temple which is located at the middle of the lake in a small island. After visiting Taalbarahi Temple and Phewa we can roam around to go do canoeing, some shopping in the streets or we can also go to do paragliding or canoeing or try Zipline.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
This will be our last day at Pokhara, so we will cover remaining places. We will start our day at a peaceful place in Shanti Stupa which is a Buddhist monastery also called World Peace Pagoda. We can roam around the Stupa and watch the beautiful sceneries. After this we will head towards the caves of Pokhara. Mahendra cave, GuptesworMahadev Cave and ChemereGufa (Bat Cave) are the three most popular caves in Pokhara, if we have enough time and if you choose to we can get to all these three caves or at least visit one of them as per your preference. At the end of the day if we feel good enough we can go out on the restaurants and bar in Pokhara to observe the nightlife of Pokhara. There are great restaurants, bars and cafes in Pokhara which have great service. You will enjoy the night in Pokhara.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
After completing our tour in Pokhara we will head early in the morning to Chitwan which will take us about 6-7 hours. After arriving at Chitwan we will have some food in the hotels around and in the afternoon we will be going on a short hike to a Tharu village. We can even take an ox ride through the village. Tharu’s are the people living around there and they have been performing cultural dance for tourists since long time. After that we can go to watch the sunset from the riverbank. We will return back to our hotel to have some dinner and at the end of the day we will be watching the popular Tharu cultural dance.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
The next day we will go to the elephant breeding farm to see elephants. On our second day at the national park we will spend most of our time at the elephant breeding farm, looking at all the big and young elephants. After this we will be going around crossing rivers, do canoe ride and take jungle walk to look for tigers, leopards, and other wildlife. However, do not worry about the animals you will be with a professional guide of the National Park who will guide and walk along with you. We can also do bird-watching here because Chitwan attracts a large number of birds. We will end our exhausting second day here.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
If you missed any animal or wanted to explore more of the national park today is the day. You can opt to wake early in the morning to watch the sunrise by the riverside and also spot some birds or animals. In the afternoon we will be going on Elephant safari, which is sitting on the back of the Elephant and going to the dense Chitwan National Park to see more of the flora and fauna. If we are lucky enough, we might be able to spot One horned Rhinoceroes, Tigers, Deers or other animals including the Gharial. The safari will be our last activity in Chitwanso we will return back to our hotels and leave for Kathmandu the next day early in the morning.
Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast
Again returning back from Chitwan to Kathmandu will take us around 6-7 hours, so will arrive at Kathmandu late in the afternoon possibly. Now we can finish off the places in Kathmandu if we had missed any. And at the night or evening can go to Thamel area where there are lots of hotel and restaurants which offer great food and service. You are more likely to want to spend more days traveling around here or return back soon after the completion of your tour.
