On this day, we take around 30-40 minutes drive to Matatirtha early in the morning. This is our start point for the trek. This is commonly known as “mother’s shrine” where visitors come on mother’s day each year and remember their moms. Hindus celebrate this day on new moon day in April each year. We then start hiking at Chandragiri Hills top which is an old temple site. However, it is a popular touristic site after the establishment of Cable Car. The area is full of natural greenery with sub-tropical forests. Chandragiri is a popular destination with spectacular views of mountains, Temple (Bhaleshwor Mahadev), restaurants, park site, etc. After lunch, we hike towards Chitlang which is an ancient village with a traditional temple, rest houses, stone water taps, etc. There are some lodges as well as the option of homestay to spend overnight at this place.
Today, we start our hike after breakfast and reach Kulekhani. Kulekhani has the biggest artificial lake in the country. The lake was made to produce hydroelectricity. The name of the lake is “Indrasarobar” where the word “sarobar” means lake. You may also enjoy boating in the lake and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, we will visit a famous temple called Dakshinkali and a Buddhist monastery in Pharping. You may explore these areas if you prefer to. After that, we continue our hike back to Kathmandu.
